Caricatures at the Westgrove Hotel, County Kildare

A few drawings from a recent wedding at the Westgrove Hotel in Clane. A thing about live caricatures is that sometimes they emphasise details that the formal photographs miss, like the distinctive glasses, or the expression everyone recognises.

These are some of the guests who sat for me during the drinks reception. Each drawing took only a few minutes. Three examples of what my caricatures look like, before they disappear into hotel rooms and the backs of cars.

2 seconds stare while they absorb it.

One of the best parts of live caricature entertainment at a wedding is seeing the reaction when guests receive their finished drawing.

Each caricature takes just a few minutes and becomes a fun keepsake from the day. Couples often keep them on their fridge, frame them, or share them on social media after the wedding.

Live caricatures are a great way to entertain guests during a wedding drinks reception. While the bridal party are taking photographs, guests can relax, have a drink, and leave with a personalised caricature to remember the day. This was at The Heritage Hotel in Killenard.

Each drawing takes just a few minutes and creates plenty of laughter as the caricature is revealed. Couples often pose with their finished artwork, making for great photos and a unique wedding keepsake.

Live Wedding Caricatures at The Heritage Hotel, Killenard

These photos were taken during a wedding drinks reception at The Heritage Hotel in Killenard, Co. Laois. While guests were enjoying a drink and catching up, couples stopped by for quick caricatures to take home as a keepsake from the day.

Live caricatures work particularly well during the drinks reception. Guests are relaxed, there’s a natural flow of people coming and going, and each drawing becomes both entertainment and a souvenir.

These live caricature photos were drawn during a wedding drinks reception in Juno. Live caricature entertainment works particularly well during the drinks reception, giving guests a fun keepsake to take home.


Relay for Life at The Currragh Racecourse

Relay For Life is a 24-hour event that sees local communities coming together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and stand shoulder to shoulder with those facing cancer.

The event helps to raise awareness of the services provided by the Irish Cancer Society and raises much needed funds to support life-saving cancer research and free services for cancer patients and their loved ones.


My contribution was drawing live caricatures for families and supporters throughout the Saturday evening, with a donation bucket raising funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

Drinks Reception Caricature Artist (Kildare based)

Drawing at a wedding, you learn to read the room. When to go for a big laugh and when to keep things gentle. At every Drinks Reception I’ve done, there’s always a few guests saying, “I’m getting this framed!”. And even the ones who aren’t so sure? More often than not, they’re tucking it under their arm by the end of the night. It grows on people.

Drawing at a Drinks Reception once, I asked the Best Man if I could take something from the sweet trolley. He turns around and gives me the two fingers! Of a KitKat I mean. Nice guy.

TIP: If you’ve booked entertainment for your drinks reception, let the hotel know in advance. I’ve often arrived to surprised faces, moving chairs around last minute. When the space is prepped, we can start early and entertain your first guests.
